Our Kindergarten students are not checking out books just yet, but in just a few weeks they will be! When they do... Kindergarten students are able to check out ONE library book at time. If a library book is not returned, then a student may not check out another book. They are given the opportunity to look for a book to enjoy during their library time, but are asked to not leave the library with it at the end of class.
If a book has been lost or damaged beyond repair, students will receive a note regarding the cost to replace the book.
2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th grades
Second, Third, Fourth, & Fifth Grade students are able to check out up to THREE library books at a time. If they have the maximum amount of books checked out and did not return any on their library day, they are given the opportunity to look for a book to enjoy during their library time. They are asked to not leave the library with it at the end of class.
Students are to select library books based upon the AR level that is assigned by their classroom teachers.
Students are expected to check out both a fiction and a non-fiction book, and if they choose to check out a third book it can be the genre of their choice.
Students may not check out 2 (or more) books regarding the same character or series. This helps avoid popular characters and collections being completely checked out by an individual class.
If a book or books have been lost or damaged beyond repair, students will receive a note regarding the cost to replace the book.
